West Brom club officials have confirmed they would support a £30 cap for Championship away ticket prices.

The news comes after heavy controversy surrounding Albion's away fixture to Coventry City next weekend.

West Brom fans were fuming after learning Coventry's prices for the game, which were as high as £45.

Coventry have since been slammed for their prices, but still stand by their decision as reasonable.

However, after the Baggies' recent meeting with the Fan Advisory Board, the Sky Blues may end up looking like the villains of the Championship.

West Brom giving back to the fans in FAB meeting

Minutes from the latest FAB meeting point out that West Brom chiefs, including Shilen Patel, will back any plans to cap away tickets at £30.

Coventry fans believed that their prices were fine and sarcastically shared how the West Brom faithful should be happy at a "bargain" to watch the league leaders play football.

Coventry City's ticket prices for West Brom fans:

  • Senior prices are £45
  • 18-21 prices are also £40
  • Under-18s prices are £35

The meeting also confirmed that Albion will discuss adjusting the value of season tickets the next time they come face to face with the FAB.

There was a heavy emphasis on talks of sustainability during discussions, as Baggies fans were told how the club plans to improve finances without Premier League income.

The rest of the Championship should act like West Brom

West Brom are setting an example to the rest of the Championship and even the EFL with how they are conducting business with fans.

There has been negativity over Ryan Mason in recent times, but the bond building between the fans and hierarchy is allowing for time to build.

Coventry are likely aware of the league’s opinion, yet leading the table may let their egos interfere with doing what's right.

Hopefully West Brom's stance will change Coventry's, but at this point, it looks unlikely.
