Jayson Molumby returns, Josh Maja dropped – West Brom predicted XI vs Coventry City

Ryan Mason could be set to start Jayson Molumby for West Brom when they face Coventry City on Saturday.

West Brom beat Oxford United 2-1 before the international break, which would have left Mason a very relieved man.

Concerns have been growing over Mason at West Brom and the head coach’s ability to progress with the Black Country club, but he’s set to be given more time to impress.

Molumby was absent from West Brom’s last starting eleven in the Championship, but looks set to return against the Sky Blues.

Albion will travel to the Coventry Building Society Arena to face the league leaders and will be hopeful of causing an upset.

Aune Heggebo to start up top for West Brom vs Coventry

There have been injury worries over Molumby, but the Irishman played 60 minutes in his nation’s dramatic World Cup qualifying win versus Hungary on Sunday.

He would come in to replace Ousmane Diakite in defensive midfield.

George Campbell has a calf problem, which led Alfie Gilchrist to take his place against Oxford last time.

Gilchrist impressed and may be in a position to be given the nod once more to play the Sky Blues.

Josh Maja has returned to fitness for Albion but failed to impress after an hour of gametime against Oxford and was substituted. His replacement, Aune Heggebo, came off the bench to score.

Heggebo is poised to start up front for Mason, with Chris Mepham set to return, forcing Callum Styles out of the starting lineup.

West Brom are no strangers to a win at Coventry

It will be hard for Mason to cluster up a good performance and a win, with Coventry the heavy favourites to beat West Brom.

If Mason wants to give Albion the best shot at victory, then he may set his side up to counterattack on the break, utilising the likes of Karlan Grant and Mikey Johnston.

Albion’s last four visits to Coventry:

A win would be huge for West Brom’s season, and the travelling Albion faithful will still have hope that an upset win can be pulled off.

It’s not out of the question, but the game plan needs to be executed perfectly to bring the points back to West Bromwich.

No doubt if Albion do fail to win, however, more pressure will mount on Mason.
