West Brom confirm exit of Ryan Mason squad player, should be for the best
West Brom youngster Cole Deeming has joined Enterprise National League outfit Truro City on a one-month loan deal.
Albion have had a shaky start to the season, with their recent 2-1 victory over Oxford United ending a four-game winless streak.
This has meant that Ryan Mason hasn’t been able to field many youngsters as the Baggies continue to find their feet in the Championship.
As a result, Deeming has become the latest young star to seek alternative pathways this season.

Cole Deeming completes favourable loan to Turo City
West Brom announced on Wednesday that Deeming has joined Truro City on a one-month loan deal.
Eighteen-year-old Deeming made his West Brom debut at Fleetwood Town in an August 2024 EFL Cup tie, and is seen as one of Albion’s most promising rising stars.
Deeming started training with West Brom’s first team over a year ago and has made several appearances in Mason’s matchday squad this season, albeit without getting any minutes.
- Deeming been named by Mason six times in Championship squads this season
- He has also made two appearances in Premier League 2
This comes after Deeming signed a new contract with West Brom over the summer.
However, Albion’s inconsistent form in the Championship has made it difficult for Mason to field him thus far.
As a result, his short loan spell to Truro City is best for all involved. Ultimately, it’ll give Deeming a chance to clock some minutes while gaining valuable experience away from The Hawthorns.

Ryan Mason unable to utilise young players at West Brom
Mason has come under increasing pressure at West Brom to deliver promising sporting results.
Albion were unbeaten in their four Championship games, which resulted in early talk that Mason could guide West Brom to Premier League promotion.
If the Baggies continued with this form, there’s no doubt that youngsters like Deeming would’ve been given ample opportunities to shine under the former Tottenham midfielder.
However, reality soon set in and a series of defeats saw the Baggies slip to 14th in the Championship.
West Brom’s recent victory over Oxford United may have granted Mason more time, but the mood may well change again should Albion lose to Coventry on Saturday.
