‘Ryan Mason to blame’ as Jayson Molumby sent off yet again for West Brom
Ryan Mason has been called out for his lack of proactivity after Jayson Molumby was sent off in West Brom’s defeat at Coventry on Saturday.
West Brom lost 3-2 to Coventry at the CBS Arena, despite Aune Heggebo starting perfectly with his first brace for the Baggies since signing.
Josh Eccles got one back before Molumby’s second yellow and red opened the floodgates for West Brom to crash to yet another Championship defeat.
Molumby is a well-known red card risk, yet Mason did nothing to prevent it from happening.

Jayson Molumby has not learned his lessons
It was suggested to Keith Hackett that the fourth official could have warned Mason that Molumby was on thin ice, but the blame is still with the manager.
The ex-PGMOL chief exclusively told West Brom News that Mason and his analysts will know the discipline of the Irish international, and should have taken action earlier.
“Frankly, every club has several analysts, and the manager should know his players and their approach with regard to on-field discipline,” Hackett said.
“The manager needs to ask himself about the player’s character. Having received a yellow card, is the player fiery with a high yellow card count? Is the player rarely yellow-carded?
“The manager then needs to decide if he should substitute the player to avoid a second yellow followed by a red.

“The fourth official might pass a comment like ‘Your player is walking a pathway to a second yellow’.
“However, it is down to the manager to determine if he needs to replace the player to avoid a second yellow.”

What happens in the Premier League to prevent this?
Leeds fell to a 2-1 defeat against Aston Villa on Sunday, but it was the treatment of Ao Tanaka that may have caught the eye of some West Brom fans.
Similar to Molumby, the midfielder was on a yellow card when committing further fouls, but instead of a red being issued, the fourth official warned Daniel Farke, who then took him off.
That didn’t happen, and West Brom will be without the midfielder against Birmingham on Wednesday.
