Hull City to run scared as Karlan Grant likens West Brom teammate to one of best in the world

West Brom are hoping to make it back-to-back wins when they take on Hull City this weekend.

Hull City welcome West Brom to the MKM Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

West Brom claimed a 2-0 win over Sheffield United last time out, with Karlan Grant and Aune Heggebo on the scoresheet for Albion.

That night saw the latter of those two move to eight Championship goals in his debut season at The Hawthorns, with Heggebo having signed from Brann this summer.

Karlan Grant drops Aune Heggebo comparison with 17-goal Premier League star

Heggebo is now flourishing for West Brom after a fairly slow start in front of goal for the Norwegian centre-forward.

The 24-year-old now has seven goals in as many Championship games, and looks more than capable of spearheading Albion’s attack for many years to come.

Speaking on WBATV, Grant waxed lyrical of Heggebo, and even compared him to his fellow Norwegian comrade, Erling Haaland.

“He’s the Championship Haaland isn’t he?” Grant said.

“Credit to him, he works every day on the training pitch on that movement to the front post, he is working all the time in training and he is reaping rewards, he has been excellent.

“I want more goals and I want assists and want to help the team in the best way I can. The big man (Heggebo) is putting up numbers and we need to help him, he can’t do it all by himself and I am keen to keep doing that.”

“That partnership is something we’re trying to build.”

Ryan Mason may need Heggebo to save his West Brom skin

Ryan Mason is a manager under major pressure at West Brom.

When a coach is under severe scrutiny, they are always looking for those players who can come up with a piece of magic, and help carve out results when they’re most needed.

Heggebo is starting to show that he can be precisely that for Mason, as Albion look to mount a play-off push in the New Year, though they currently reside in 16th and six point adrift of the top six.

So, if Mason is to secure his position in charge of West Brom, then having a “Championship Haaland” leading the line should do him the world of good.
