West Brom fans shocked by new image of Daryl Dike that’s surfaced ahead of FA Cup clash vs Swansea
Daryl Dike has been West Brom’s forgotten man over the last few years.
Signed for a fee of just over £7million back in January 2022, Dike has endured injury hell at West Brom for the vast majority of his time at The Hawthorns so far.
He’s made just seven appearances in all competitions so far this season, and Dike has been tipped to leave West Brom this month.
Ryan Mason had bemoaned his lack of squad depth after West Brom lost to Swansea in the Championship on New Year’s Day, seemingly throwing a slight bit of shade in the direction of Dike.
However, with Mason gone and Eric Ramsay set to take the West Brom job, Dike could be about to get a much-needed fresh start under the new boss.
West Brom fans react to Daryl Dike image in training
Albion travel to Swansea for the second time in 11 days this Sunday to contest an FA Cup tie, with Dike potentially in line to play a big part in the game.
And in an training ground image posted to West Brom’s official X account on Thursday, Baggies supporters have been left stunned by the condition that Dike looks to be in.
“Would love to see him stay fit long enough and bag goals which he is so capable of doing,” said another West Brom fan.
“Hopefully cutting his weight down will help him, he should have had more minutes this season. no way he can be worse than the performances (Josh) Maja has given,” said another Baggies supporter.
This is exactly why Dike could thrive under Eric Ramsay
With West Brom and Ramsay seemingly putting the finishing touches on the deal that will see the 33-year-old named as Albion’s new head coach, Dike could be one of the big beneficiaries of this appointment.
At Minnesota United in 2025, Ramsay’s side led the MLS by a considerable margin for goals from set-pieces (22), with Philadelphia Union’s 17 being the next closest team to them, per WhoScored.
- Dike has made 50 appearances for West Brom
- He’s scored nine goals and registered two assists
- The most appearances he’s made for Albion in a single season is 25 in the 2022-23 campaign
They also had the second-highest percentage of attacks through the middle of the pitch (31 per cent), meaning whoever is leading the line for West Brom under Ramsay should see a lot of the ball.
Minnesota also had the third-highest percentage for shots inside the box (61 per cent), and so with Dike’s 6’2″ size and new-look leanness, should he stay fit, he could be a dream profile of striker that Ramsay’s tactics and system requires.
