West Brom to beat English rivals to new manager deal, timeline for appointment revealed
West Brom sacked Ryan Mason following their 2-1 defeat to Leicester City on Tuesday, and the Baggies are already closing in on his successor.
Minnesota United boss Eric Ramsay is the man Shilen Patel wants to guide Albion into a new era, and a deal is progressing rapidly.
Ramsay has agreed to take over at West Brom after holding talks over the vacant managerial position, with the hierarchy set to take another gamble on a young manager.
The 33-year-old has only managed Minnesota in MLS following spells as a coach at Chelsea and Manchester United, respectively, so supporters are praying he is an improvement on Mason.
West Brom to beat English teams to Eric Ramsay’s signature
Ramsay has been pictured in the UK ahead of finalising his switch to the Midlands, and according to Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett, a deal for the Welshman won’t be completed in time for West Brom’s FA Cup clash against Swansea City on Sunday.

Dorsett claims that there is ‘confidence’ from both sides that an agreement can be reached, while also stating that Ramsay has fielded interest from clubs across England and Europe.
So, barring any late hiccups, it appears West Brom have found their replacement for Mason, and the manager has his work cut out to salvage their season.
The Baggies are 18th in the Championship table, and are closer to the relegation places (seven points) than the play-offs (10 points).
West Brom’s aim at the start of the campaign was a top-six finish, but it’s going to take an almighty turnaround in the final 20 matches to get back into the mix.
What Erik ten Hag has said about Ramsay
Ramsay has been in charge of Minnesota since February 2024, and during that time, he has achieved sixth-place and fourth-place finishes in the MLS.

More importantly, even before a successful stint in the US, the favourite to take over at The Hawthorns has received praise from some top figures in the game.
When he was a player development coach at Manchester United, Erik ten Hag hailed Ramsay as ‘really talented’ in March 2023.
“I think it is great,” Ten Hag said. “Eric is a really talented coach, and he is progressing a lot.
“He is ambitious and this will happen, and it will improve him and help him to get new experiences, but also it will improve Manchester United as he will bring experiences back in our coaching.”
