Jake Livermore reacts to news Joe Wildsmith has left West Brom on loan

Jake Livermore is still keeping up to date with West Brom, three years on from leaving the club.

The midfielder spent seven seasons at The Hawthorns and was an important cog in the Baggies squad throughout that period.

Livermore captained West Brom from the 2019-2020 season onwards and led the club to Premier League promotion that season.

Throughout his time at the Baggies, he made 216 appearances, scoring nine goals and getting 12 assists.

He is a highly regarded player in the folklore of West Brom, and his time at the club has led him to keep an eye on things at the club.

Jake Livermore reacts to Joe Wildsmith’s move to Middlesbrough

Joe Wildsmith did not have much of an impact at West Brom, with the goalkeeper making just 20 appearances in all competitions since joining in 2024.

Throughout those matches, he conceded 28 goals and kept only three clean sheets.

Wildsmith has found himself playing second fiddle to multiple players during his time, with Max O’Leary, Joshua Griffiths, and Alex Palmer all getting the nod over him at times.

That has now led Wildsmith to seek a move elsewhere, with West Brom confirming his departure on Instagram during deadline day, amidst chaotic scenes with the West Brom hierarchy.

Among those who liked the post was former Baggies captain Jake Livermore.

From a fan’s perspective, it is nice to see Livermore still engaged with all things West Brom. The midfielder was a hard-working player, and his efforts were always appreciated.

West Brom’s completed deadline day deals

Wildsmith was not the only man making a move on deadline day, as Aston Villa made the unexpected decision to call back Samuel Iling Jr.

However, the winger was replaced by another Villa man as Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba arrived to The Hawthorns on loan.

Additionally, West Brom have signed Hindolo Mustapha from Crystal Palace, who follows Danny Imray in joining the club this window.

Eric Ramsay will now be hoping that was enough to increase the quality within the West Brom squad, as his future is on the line despite only being hired.

Ramsay is yet to win a game since replacing Ryan Mason in the dugout.

The Baggies are in a relegation scrap, and dropping down to League One would be a disaster for the club.
