Dominic Price set for West Brom appointment as new announcement made

Dominic Price is the leading candidate to become West Brom’s new technical director.

Andrew Nestor walked away from his role at The Hawthorns on 1 February, with several disagreements behind the scenes coming to light.

West Brom‘s former president stepped down after a disappointing spell in B71 as reports emerged that relations with Shilen Patel had broken down.

There was disagreement between both senior figures on the appointment of Eric Ramsay, who hasn’t started well as West Brom manager.

Price was the technical director at Maccabi Tel Aviv, but the Israeli outfit has just made an announcement about his future.

Dominic Price leaves Maccabi Tel Aviv, appointment isn’t imminent

West Brom are embroiled in a relegation battle, and the arrival of Price could spur a huge change behind the scenes.

The recruitment during Nestor’s tenure was abysmal, and it’s no shock that the Baggies find themselves staring down the barrel of relegation.

While Price won’t replace Nestor’s exact role as West Brom’s president, he is expected to become the new technical director.

Having joined Maccabi Tel Aviv in July 2023, the Israeli side have now officially confirmed that Price is leaving the club.

BBC West Midlands journalist Steve Hermon confirmed the news and stated that he’s expected to take up a similar role at West Brom.

However, his arrival isn’t believed to be imminent, which will leave Baggies fans sceptical about when his appointment will take place.

He may not join until the summer, and it’s imperative that West Brom don’t find themselves preparing for a season in League One by the time he walks through the door.

Dominic Price’s track record is impressive

If he is to become West Brom’s technical director, then Price definitely has the experience that is required to lead them forward.

Having started his career in football as a coach at Liverpool, he went on to become a technical analyst for Blackpool.

He later returned to the Reds as an analyst, before being poached by the Israeli outfit.

Price can bring a fresh perspective on new recruitment and oversee the development of young players in the academy.

Whether the Baggies will be in the Championship or not next season is an entirely different question, but what is clear is that they are planning toward the future.

Patel doesn’t have a lot of credit in the bank after recent months, and he’ll be relying on Price to succeed when he arrives in B71.

And it’s safe to say that he is capable of turning fortunes around, now he just has to prove it.
