West Brom fans have had enough of Jayson Molumby after defeat vs Coventry – ‘Disgrace’

Jayson Molumby has once again infuriated West Brom fans after the 2-0 loss to Coventry on Saturday afternoon.

The Republic of Ireland international was scrutinised for his woeful performance in midfield, and it’s becoming a repeated pattern.

Since arriving at West Brom in 2021-22, the 26-year-old has received three red cards and 37 yellow cards, which shows how much of a risk he can be.

Molumby has let his side down time and time again, and fans have finally had enough after the latest defeat at The Hawthorns.

West Brom fans rage at Jayson Molumby after woeful performance vs Coventry

Ephron Mason-Clark and Jack Rudoni scored two brilliant goals for Coventry, but in reality, West Brom’s defending made it too easy for them.

Rudoni’s goal was an absolute rocket from outside the box, but it could have been prevented had Molumby sprinted back to apply pressure on him.

Instead, he jogged across his own half and allowed the Coventry midfielder to shoot when he was just a couple of yards away.

Failing to block that shot ended up being costly, and supporters on social media were quick to point the finger at him.

One fan said: “I’m glad I ain’t the only one who sees this.”

Another supporter added: “Molumby and [Alex] Mowatt were shocking in the first half. A big error in the summer was not replacing them.”

Molumby simply isn’t good enough for the Championship

According to Sofascore, Molumby has only won 43.9 per cent of his ground duels this season.

That is completely woeful for a player who has played 26 times this campaign, and it shows how bad the midfield situation currently is.

Toby Collyer was recalled from his loan spell in B71, and Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba was signed as his only potential replacement, but he’s been playing out wide under Eric Ramsay.

Therefore, Mowatt and Molumby are constantly playing, and it’s clear that they don’t work well together.

Molumby lacks the athleticism off the ball and the quality on the ball to be considered a good midfielder at Championship level.

The Baggies are sleepwalking their way towards relegation, and persisting with Molumby will only accelerate that process.

Ramsay has to consider starting Ousmane Diakite, who impressed during the festive period and has a lot more energy to offer.

If Molumby continues to be named in the team, not only will the head coach find himself sacked, but West Brom fans will feel even more convinced that their side won’t play in the Championship next season.
