Eric Ramsay punishes Alfie Gilchrist in three changes – West Brom predicted XI vs Charlton

Alfie Gilchrist looks set to be dropped by Eric Ramsay for West Brom’s Championship clash against Charlton at The Hawthorns on Tuesday.

The English right-back was subbed off after 40 minutes on Saturday after a dreadful first-half performance, and the Baggies can’t afford to be punished by individual mistakes again.

Ramsay remains under pressure after eight games in charge without a win, but securing all three points against Nathan Jones’ side could save him from being sacked.

A win against Charlton won’t be easy for Ramsay, and the head coach may make three changes to the team that lost 2-0 to Coventry City on Saturday.

George Campbell comes in for Alfie Gilchrist in three changes

Campbell left CF Montreal to join the Baggies in the summer and he has made 28 appearances in all competitions this season.

After he replaced Gilchrist against Coventry, Ramsay could now stick with Campbell. Indeed, it seems implausible that the USA international won’t start at The Hawthorns on Tuesday.

Via Sofascore, Campbell has a pass accuracy of 85 per cent, which is incredibly impressive for a full-back, and there’s no doubt that he would help the Baggies in possession.

Mikey Johnston could come back into the side for Jed Wallace, who was underwhelming against the Sky Blues.

Although Johnston has the most assists in the Championship (nine), he is yet to deliver under the new head coach, but his introduction to the side would bring extra creativity in the final third.

The final change would see Aune Heggebo make way for Josh Maja, who has been a bright spark for West Brom under Ramsay.

The rest of the team should remain the same, although several players have a lot to prove to the fans after weeks of underperforming.

Jayson Molumby and Alex Mowatt are lucky to be starting for West Brom

Alex Mowatt and Jayson Molumby are constantly playing, and it’s clear that they don’t work well together.

The Irish midfielder lacks the athleticism off the ball and the quality on the ball to be considered a good midfielder at Championship level.

Alex Mowatt may have started the season well for West Brom, but his form has dropped off a cliff in recent weeks.

Both players need to start performing, and it’s no wonder that the supporters have been so critical of their contributions to the side.

West Brom have no hope of beating Charlton if their midfielders aren’t at the races, and if they do fall to another defeat, then serious questions need to be asked about their places in the team.
