West Brom already likely know who’ll be in charge until end of season, fans might not like it
West Brom are in the hunt for their third manager of the season following the sacking of Eric Ramsay.
Ramsay took charge in January following Ryan Mason’s dismal period at the helm, before things continued to worsen.
The Baggies failed to win any of the nine matches under Ramsay’s guidance, and Shilen Patel had seen enough after Albion’s 1-1 draw with Charlton at The Hawthorns on Tuesday, summoning the 34-year-old for a meeting directly after his press conference.
Patel now finds himself in the managerial chase for the third time this season, while James Morrison takes charge on what was thought to be a temporary basis.
However, fans may not be pleased with a new update that indicates that the former midfielder could be the man tasked with saving West Brom before May.
James Morrison update may not please West Brom fans
Morrison made 341 appearances for the Baggies as a player, and is yet to taste defeat in the dugout having took charge of three matches across both interim spells.
However, supporters may not be too happy with an update from EyaWeGew, who is largely trusted when it comes to West Brom updates on X.
Sharing information on Ramsay’s sacking on Wednesday, a question was posed as to whether Morrison could be in charge until the end of the season, with the response: “It will be for now, yeah.
“Unless something pops up we’ll see, I’ll try keep everyone in the loop.”
Morrison knows the club inside and out, and supporters can take the positives in this.
However, there is a huge question mark lingering when it comes to his experience not just in the current situation the Baggies find themselves in, but in management as a whole.
West Brom missed a huge opportunity this year
It can be said that West Brom have embarrassed themselves multiple times on the managerial front this season.
The Mason experiment failed dramatically, despite an initial positive start to the campaign. And things have continued to go from bad to worse as the season has progressed, leaving Albion sitting just a point above the relegation zone.

All the while around them, sides have been making moves for experience, with Michael O’Neil and Gary Rowett joining Blackburn and Leicester respectively.
Following the sacking of Mason at the turn of the year, West Brom had a big opportunity to move for similar experience and secure their Championship security, no matter how tempting the idea of a ‘project’ may have been.
Ramsay’s attempt to overhaul Albion’s system was destined to fail at the midway point of the campaign, and now they are paying the price with threats of relegation.
While the blame would not land at Morrison’s feet should the worst happen come May, the point has to be made that it is just too big a risk to keep him on until the end of the season.
Albion are in further danger of sinking, while those around them carry the potential to shift through the gears. They could be about to make a huge error in the coming days and weeks.
