Karlan Grant shares new message from West Brom training ground as injury recovery continues

Karlan Grant has shared a message from West Brom training as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury.

The Baggies ace was injured in the 1-1 draw with Derby, and required surgery to fix the issue which could rule him out until the end of the season.

He was just coming into form when he problem struck, with three goals in his 10 Championship matches, a crucial contribution to The Hawthorns side’s survival hopes.

West Brom have sorely missed his presence, so the latest update will be encouraging, although it is not yet know when he will be back in action.

He took to Instagram on 16 March, posting an image of him from the training base with a message, saying: “Working”.

Why Grant may have played his last match for West Brom

Grant may still have played his last game for West Brom, depending on the extent of his injury recovery.

Albion’s last game will be the 2 May clash with Sheffield Wednesday, as they are definitely not in playoff contention any more.

The Baggies stated that he would be out for three months, which could put him in line to play in that clash, but injury recoveries do not always go smoothly.

If he suffers any setbacks, then he may not appear for the Throstles ever again, as his contract expires at the end of the current campaign.

What is Grant’s contract situation and will he extend?

Grant committed to a six-year deal when he signed for the West Midlands side in 2020, in a £15million deal from Huddersfield Town.

The likelihood of him earning an extension while sitting on the sidelines seems like an unlikely conclusion at this point.

Bilkul Football have already proven that they can be ruthless when needed, selling academy graduates such as Alex Palmer and Tom Fellows to balance the books.

They also got rid of club president Andrew Nestor just a few weeks ago after he bore the responsibility for the disastrous Eric Ramsay appointment.

The decision on Grant will be one that is dictated by business, the financials will come first, and if the 28-year-old does not agree a team friendly extension, then he will be gone.

It is as simple as that, there is no room for sentiment under Shilen Patel and Co., especially after the mess that the previous regime left them in.
