Ollie Bostock rewarded for West Brom breakthrough as promotion to Wales U21s announced
Ollie Bostock has been called up to Wales’ U21s squad after his early breakthrough at West Brom.
The youngster has always been highly rated at Albion, but his emergence this season has been both unexpected and welcomed at the same time.
West Brom posted confirmation that the versatile attacker has received the call-up on their X account this Thursday, which is a promotion from the U19s team.
Bostock will now feature in Wales‘ upcoming EURO qualification matches against Belarus and Denmark, as James Morrison will be hoping to have him fit and available after the international break.
But one thing is for sure, the 19-year-old will be knocking on the door for a senior Wales call-up soon.
This is why Ollie Bostock deserves Wales promotion
Bostock has represented Wales at both U17s and U19s level, and has scored previously in UEFA Championship Qualification matches.
This call-up will be a step up for him, but as seen at The Hawthorns this season, he is more than capable of playing at senior level, let alone for the U21s.

The teenager has played multiple times for the Baggies at U21s level, but has now seemingly broken into Morrison’s first-team squad for the rest of the campaign.
Albion are still facing off-field financial issues, and the emergence of Bostock could be pivotal for the success of the Black Country Club in multiple departments.

The left-winger still has clear areas of his game that will need to be touched up on, but he’s really not far away from becoming a regular in the starting lineup.
Will Bostock get loaned in the summer?
Bostock could be a key player for Albion next season, but that may depend on their ability to stay in the Championship.
Just eight games remain of the season, and the Baggies are fighting tooth and nail to avoid a drop to League One. However, if that did happen, Bostock would have a much better chance of getting game time.
But, it would still be no surprise to see the youngster remain in the first-team squad after Shilen Patel conducts an inevitable clearout this summer.
He’s one of West Brom’s brightest prospects, and they need to get his development right.
Achieving survival could mean that he does get loaned out, but surely it would be to a side, at least in League One, but no further down the English pyramid.
