West Bromwich Albion and Blackburn Rovers both share four wins against one another across their all-time Championship meetings.

James Morrison‘s side haven’t got much time to lick their wounds after Good Friday’s draw with Wrexham, as they face a quick turnaround ahead of a crucial clash with Blackburn on Easter Monday.

Indeed, Albion were left kicking themselves after letting a two-goal lead slip against Phil Parkinson’s promotion-chasing Wrexham on Friday, denying the Baggies a third-successive win.

However, ask any West Brom fan before the game if they’d have taken a point, and the vast majority would’ve snapped your hands off, and that’s the message Morrison should relay to his players.

Albion now prepare for their biggest match of the season, as 19th host 20th at Ewood Park for a bank holiday barnstormer in the battle for Championship survival.

West Brom and Blackburn’s Championship head-to-head record

An awful lot of water has flown under the bridge since West Brom beat Blackburn 1-0 on the opening day of the 2025-26 season back on 9 August, 2025.

Isaac Price netted the winner for Albion at The Hawthorns that day, and since then, he’s gone from hero to villain to hero again, whilst two managers have lost their jobs in B71.

In fact, it will be a totally different managerial battle on Easter Monday, as Morrison faces off against Michael O’Neill, who came in to replace Valerien Ismael in mid-February as Rovers boss until the end of the season.

Blackburn come into Monday’s game in good form too, as they’re in the midst of a three-game unbeaten run and beat Birmingham City 1-0 at St Andrew’s on Good Friday.

Should there be a winner in this one, then that team will likely have done enough to secure their Championship status, with three points taking West Brom to 47, and Rovers to 49 respectively.

So, what to do the history books tell us about this fixture, and do they potentially point towards a clear favourite?

Well, in the 13 times these two teams have met in the Championship since it’s re-branding in 2004, both teams have tasted four wins over one another, with the other five games ending in draws.

Albion hold a slight advantage in the goals tally though, with 16 scored compared to Blackburn’s 15.

How have West Brom fared in recent games against Blackburn?

As aforementioned, West Brom do hold the current bragging rights in this fixture with that 1-0 win on the opening day of the season.

However, looking back through that last handful of encounters between the two, the balance of power has routinely changed hands.

Prior to that 1-0 Albion win, it was Blackburn who won 2-0 on 12 February last year, and before that, the two sides played out a 0-0 draw at Ewood Park in October 2024.

The most convincing win for either side as a Championship fixture goes to West Brom though, with a 4-1 win back in January 2024.
