James Morrison's decision to hook Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba was truly justified after what was arguably his worst West Bromwich Albion performance against Wrexham.

The Baggies dropped the ball after leading 2-0 against Wrexham at The Hawthorns on Good Friday, as Jimoh-Aloba was of no help.

The winger was one of two Albion players to be replaced during the game, as the other, Josh Maja, did much more than him through his penalty strike.

Ironically, the Black Country Club almost regained the lead in the 88th minute if it weren't for Daryl Dike's miss, as Morrison's side looked like grabbing the winner after Jimoh-Aloba exited the field.

Morrison might not start him again for West Brom with just six games remaining, as the Aston Villa loanee's statistics from the game lay his poor performance bare.

The positives for the Baggies to take are that they are five games unbeaten in the Championship now, but relegation is still a threat.

West Brom resigned Jimoh-Aloba from their Midlands rivals, Aston Villa, this winter, and it looks to be a free hit that has yet to really pay off.

Jimoh-Aloba vs Wrexham

Jimoh-Aloba had just 19 touches in total, with five of them being passes, all completed at a success rate of 60 per cent.

The 19-year-old had a 17 per cent ground duel win rate, which isn't ideal considering the need for fighters at this stage of the season.

Morrison most likely opted for the forward to use him as an attacking outlet, but neither of his three dribbles was a success, nor were his two failed crossing attempts.

Jimoh-Alobah's performance just made worse by injury news

Jimoh-Aloba should be dropped for West Brom's relegation six-pointer against Blackburn Rovers on Easter Monday, but Morrison doesn't have many other options.

Especially considering the bad news on the Baggies' skipper, Jed Wallace.

  • Jed Wallace missed squad inclusion against Wrexham
  • He had played in all of Morrison's first five games back in charge

Morrison confirmed that Wallace pulled up in training before the Wrexham clash, and admitted he could have cried when he saw it happen.

The interim Baggies boss expects the Englishman to be out for another couple of weeks, and suggested we could see him back for the final two games of the season.

In the meantime, Jimoh-Aloba may be given another chance or two.
