West Brom PSR hearing set for next two weeks as sanctions timeframe now clear
West Bromwich Albion are set for a hearing over their alleged breach of Profit and Sustainability Rules, and it will take place before the end of April.
The exact date that the Baggies will have the hearing is unknown, but the EFL intends to impose any necessary sanction, possibly a points deduction, and it will be applied this season.
John Percy has confirmed the news on X, and the EFL’s standpoint over the matter is due to guidelines in place, with West Brom’s statement on Monday revealing that the club are compliant with the procedure.
A breach of £2million could see Albion docked three points, as a breach of £4m could see them lose four points of their Championship tally.
With West Brom’s hearing over their financial breach taking place at some point over the next two weeks, it looks unlikely that a confirmed deduction could happen once the season has already concluded.

Points deduction more likely than fine for West Brom
West Brom are unlikely to face a fine from the EFL, and instead, the organisation are said to be more likely to hand the Baggies a points deduction instead.
Derby County previously faced a financial fine for their breach of PSR, which added to how the Rams nearly folded as a club under former owner Mel Morris.

| Breached accounting policies | £100,000 |
West Brom have had some losses over the years, but if found guilty of losing more than a total of £39m over three years, the Baggies could be in trouble.

The issue for Shilen Patel and Co. is big and has come as a huge shock for Baggies fans.
Rob Dorsett spot on with ‘sporting integrity’ claim against EFL
Speaking on Sky Sports News this Wednesday, journalist Rob Dorsett shared his feelings on the matter, claiming that the EFL’s decision will also impact other Championship clubs at the bottom of the league.
Dorsett said: “The problem is, when is the end of the season? This is terrible for sporting integrity when you have five clubs in the championship, all not knowing what West Brom’s points tally is right now.
“A points deduction might change the approach of these clubs. It’s not looking good for the EFL, or for football in general.”
Dorsett then went on to explain that the issue has been going on with the EFL for some time, and that one of the main causes of it is down to interest rates on loans that were previously taken out by Guochuan Lai.
The journalist also later confirmed that it’s “very, very unlikely” that a points deduction will be given after the final whistle of the season, but it’s still possible.
