Ben Foster hits back at Watford fan after celebrations over West Brom win – ‘Calm yourself’
Ben Foster has hit back at criticism following his celebrations after West Bromwich Albion beat Watford 3-0.
The Baggies secured their Championship survival on Tuesday – but for a points deduction – as they dismantled the Hornets at The Hawthorns.
Boss James Morrison arrived at the end of February and has overseen a sensational nine-match unbeaten run after suffering a 2-1 defeat to Oxford in his first match.
With the back-to-basics approach, the former midfielder has secured results against multiple promotion chasers throughout his spell, while big wins against Preston and Watford sealed the deal in the last week.
Morrison’s former teammate Foster took to Instagram to celebrate West Brom’s win, in turn drawing criticism from sections of the Watford fanbase.

Ben Foster revels in crucial West Brom win
With Albion within touching distance of survival, they would go on to dismantle Ed Still’s side.
Isaac Price, Daryl Dike and Danny Imray would get on the scoresheet, completing what would be one of the best nights at The Hawthorns this term.
| West Brom’s stats vs Watford | Result |
| Possession | 57% |
| Expected goals (xG) | 1.48 |
| Shots (on target) | 14 (6) |
| Passes | 485 |
| Touches in opposition box | 25 |
Following his Instagram story post praising the win, the former Baggies and Watford shotstopper would be called out on X, with some rather choice words aimed at him.
Responding, Foster outlined just how much Albion means to him.
“Calm yourself down a little Frankie boy,” he said to a user called ‘FrankieHolliday’.
“I take no delight in Watford losing. The game means nothing to WFC, nothing to play for. However it’s a big win for WBA, a team I played seven years for. It means that they’re safe from relegation now.
“Just a little perspective for ya.”
Joining from Manchester United in 2011, Foster would become an integral part of Albion’s Premier League run, before leaving the club for Watford in 2018.
West Brom fans will have fond memories of Ben Foster
Racking up over 200 appearances for the Black Country outfit, Foster will always be a popular figure at The Hawthorns.
And with the derby against Wolves coming up next term, fans will think back to his rivalry with the Old Gold.
With the Hornets beating Albion’s rivals in the 2019 FA Cup semi-final, Foster would take to social media to remember the 5-1 derby victory recorded in 2012, receiving love from the Baggies fanbase.
Now, one of his teammates from the same era is the man leading West Brom to Championship survival, in a year when everything that could have gone wrong did.
Much like Foster, Morrison will have fond memories of the Black Country derby, which may just be another reason as to why West Brom fans want to keep him at the helm as they move forward.
