West Brom Women: Hodgetts-Still admits to frustration as temporary manager change nears
Siobhan Hodgetts-Still admits she was “frustrated” by West Bromwich Albion Women’s goalless draw with Middlesbrough as she prepares to temporarily step down from her role.
West Brom ended the FAWNL Northern Premier season with a clean sheet on Sunday but failed to break down Boro at MAP Group UK Stadium.
Riya Mannu went close for the Baggies, only for Ruby Kick to tip her effort onto the crossbar, while Hannah George stung the hands of the goalkeeper, too.
That meant the Midlands outfit ended the campaign in sixth, with Middlesbrough edging them into fifth place on goal difference.
This was Hodgetts-Still’s last West Brom game before going on maternity leave in July, and it was clear that she wasn’t entirely happy after this draw.

West Brom season ends on downbeat
Last week, Hodgetts-Still announced she was pregnant and was expecting a baby later this year.
However, she was firmly focused on trying to secure West Brom fourth place in the league, with Stoke City just three points ahead of them in the table going into the final fixture.

But West Brom didn’t create enough clear-cut chances and were also indebted to goalkeeper Charlotte Clarke versus Boro.
However, after losing to Derby County last time out, the West Brom boss was not completely down in the dumps.
She told the club’s website, “We’re frustrated not to have got the win today. It was a deserved point for both teams, from my perspective.
“Even though it was a 0-0, it was a good game to watch – it was end-to-end. Both teams defended their boxes really well, and we’re disappointed not to have got all three points, though.
“Performance-wise, we asked the players to be better than their performance against Derby a few weeks ago. We know we weren’t where we should’ve been in that game; we asked them to improve on that today. We wanted to make sure they put in a shift, and they did that.”
West Brom search for interim boss
Following her pregnancy news, Hodgetts-Still revealed that West Brom are looking for an interim boss during her maternity period.
She was appointed as the Baggies’ first full-time head coach of the women’s team in February 2025, when West Brom’s women’s team became the same entity as the men’s team.
The new season gets underway in mid-August, with Hodgetts-Still set to return in the new year.
Everything will be focused on West Brom pushing further up the table next season, with more than enough positive signs that they can do just that from this campaign.
