PERMANENT MANAGER HUNT:

NEXT WEST BROM MANAGER:
James Morrison Interim Updates, Shortlist & Latest Odds

West Brom managers have been coming and going as if on a carousel over the past year or so. After the relative stability Carlos Corberan brought to The Hawthorns dugout, five different coaches have been in charge of Albion since he departed for Valencia on Christmas Eve, 2024. Baggies legend Chris Brunt oversaw a temporary spell alongside co-interim Damia Abella before Tony Mowbray returned for a second stint, which lasted a mere three months.

James Morrison then had his first temporary stint, before Ryan Mason was appointed in the summer. However, things quickly went south under the stewardship of the former Tottenham midfielder, leading to the arrival of Eric Ramsay. Unfortunately, Ramsay’s spell proved to be an unmitigated failure, lasting just eight games and producing zero victories. After a successful spell back at the helm in an interim capacity, Morrison was announced as the new permanent manager of the Black Country club on 30 April.

Given the success Morrison has had in a short space of time, keeping Albion in the division with a superb unbeaten run, it may well be the club icon is himself the current favourite to stay on.

Shilen Patel’s reaction to James Morrison appointment

After Morrison saved West Brom from relegation to League One, despite a two-point deduction for failing PSR, Baggies owner Shilen Patel said: “James has led the club out of a real moment of adversity, and I would like to thank him and his staff for helping to bring us all together.

“We did not survive by accident, and James’ appointment is thoroughly deserved. His burgeoning leadership was key to inspiring and uniting the entire club when we needed it most. He embodies what this club is about and conveys the standards expected by our fans.

“James has all the qualities required to take this club forward and I am excited by a future with him leading our players.”
