Alex Mowatt wanted by multiple clubs as West Brom quartet could all move on

Alex Mowatt is reportedly one of four West Bromwich Albion first-team regulars who could be heading for the exit this summer.

The 31-year-old is set to enter the final 12 months of his contract at The Hawthorns this summer, having agreed fresh terms last year.

Mowatt played the full 90 minutes for West Brom in their final-day 2-1 loss at Sheffield Wednesday and has 41 appearances to his name in all competitions this term.

The Baggies know this will be their final chance to land a fee for Mowatt, assuming another new deal is not signed, leaving the midfielder’s future uncertain.

And Mowatt is not the only West Brom player whose future is up in the air now that the curtain has come down on the 2025-26 season.

Alex Mowatt unsurprisingly wanted by others

If West Brom have any sense, they will spend the early stages of the off-season working on new deals for players of Mowatt’s calibre.

While he has not exactly ripped up the Championship this season – barely any Albion players have – Mowatt is a more-than-steady option for West Brom.

According to West Brom insider account EyaWeGew via X on Sunday morning, however, “a few clubs” are showing an interest in Mowatt.

Daryl Dike is also being eyed by teams in Major League Soccer, while fans are told to “not be surprised” if Chris Mepham and Karlan Grant also move on in the coming weeks.

Grant is another who is attracting interest elsewhere, while Mepham has fallen down the defensive pecking order.

James Morrison confirmed after the loss to Sheffield Wednesday that Mepham has been fit for a while, but he has opted to go with others in his matchday squad.

George Campbell exit another to watch

Albion fans will be eager for Shilen Patel to strengthen the squad, rather than weaken it, after what was a real relegation scare this season.

However, George Campbell is being strongly linked with Celtic already and that brings back plenty of memories regarding Torbjorn Heggem last summer.

The reality is that players may move on before others are brought in. That is fine as long as the business is done nice and quickly.

Again, though, the reality is that is never the case. We can fully expect Albion to be conducting business – whether that be incoming or outgoing – right up until the seconds the window closes.

All we can do is strap ourselves in and wait to see what plays out over the next few months.
