Callum Styles has been called up to Hungary’s squad for their summer international friendlies, as the West Bromwich Albion star is rewarded for a strong finish to the season.

West Brom’s 2025-26 Supporters’ Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season, Styles is one of Albion’s most priceless gems.

The 26-year-old enjoyed another superb campaign at The Hawthorns this year, starting 41 of his 45 Championship appearances and seldom dropping below a seven out of 10 every week.

As a result, there is sure to be some fear inside Albion as to whether significant transfer interest may arrive for him this summer, as he would no doubt walk into the majority of Championship teams.

After a long and testing campaign, West Brom’s players will now be jetting off to all corners of the world to enjoy their time off, but Styles may not be afforded much of a summer break.

2026-27 is set to be a big season for West Brom, as now under the permanent management of James Morrison, things are looking up in B71.

Shilen Patel is sure to back ‘Mozza’ to the best of his ability this summer, with a fanbase that is now re-energised and back in love with their football club after two disastrous and short-lived reigns of Ryan Mason and Eric Ramsay, respectively.

The presence of Styles in the team is another big reason for Baggies belief ahead of next term, as the versatile left-back will again be an integral part of Morrison’s team.

However, he may not report back to Albion’s pre-season camp as well-rested as others, and that’s because he’s now got international duties to attend to.

As confirmed via West Brom’s club website, Styles has been named in Hungary’s squad for their summer friendlies next month.

Hungary take on Finland on 5 June before playing Kazakhstan on 9 June respectively, as Marco Rossi’s side failed to qualify for the World Cup.

What Styles’ Hungary call-up means for West Brom

This past season, Mason brought his West Brom side together for pre-season training on 25 June.

Most teams begin their pre-season camps around late June/early July, and thus, Styles will still have plenty of time to rest up and enjoy some well-earned time off.

However, the call-up and potential involvement in two more games of football does naturally bring about the risk of an injury, which would be a devastating blow for Albion before their 2026-27 campaign even gets started.

But, that’s the risk you have to accept when you’ve got a quality player in your side like Styles, as everyone connected with the Baggies will be crossing their fingers Hungary wrap him in cotton wool for those two friendly games.
