Daryl Dike shares reminder of what he’s capable of as West Brom exit decision imminent
Daryl Dike has reminded the West Bromwich Albion faithful of exactly what he is capable of.
The striker has endured a dismal spell with injuries at The Hawthorns, and his current contract is due to expire in the summer.
Yet Dike has still played his part in Albion’s fight for survival under James Morrison, linking up effectively with either Aune Heggebo or Josh Maja in attack.
When he joined the club in 2022, the American was seen as the man to fire the Baggies back to the Premier League, only for persistent injury problems to derail his progress.
Now Albion are left with a major decision as the question of a new deal looms.

Daryl Dike reflects on injury struggles to prove just what he can do
Since joining from Orlando City in 2022, Dike has endured a torrid spell with injuries.
The towering striker has been unable to find any real consistency during his time in the Midlands, fuelling growing speculation over his future.
| Season | Injury | From | Until | Days | Games missed |
| 25-26 | Thigh problems | 01/08/25 | 12/10/25 | 73 | 10 |
| 23-24 | Achilles tendon surgery | 11/02/24 | 13/02/25 | 369 | 52 |
| 22-23 | Achilles tendon surgery | 16/04/23 | 05/01/24 | 265 | 32 |
| 22-23 | Thigh problems | 01/08/22 | 07/11/22 | 99 | 22 |
| 21/22 | Hamstring injury | 22/01/22 | 15/03/22 | 53 | 12 |
Looking back at the woes on his Instagram, he reposted a video shared by the EFL’s USA account.
As detailed in the clip, the striker endured a torrid time with injuries this season, as has been the case for large periods of his Albion career.
However, getting fully back up to speed before the season’s end, he would begin to look a menace in the final third under Morrison.
Netting his first goal since the final day of the 2024-25 campaign, Dike would seal a 2-0 win against Preston North End to all-but secure West Brom’s spot in the division.
West Brom have big Dike decision to make
With his current deal due to expire at the end of June, Dike’s time at The Hawthorns appears to be drawing to a close, alongside multiple Albion teammates.
Indeed, the Baggies need to confirm by Saturday which players have been released and which have been offered new contracts, so an exit decision is close on that front.
After finally ending his goal drought under Morrison and producing a series of lively displays, Albion are now faced with a major decision.
But sentiment cannot come into it as West Brom look to rebuild, and Dike’s injury record remains a serious concern – even if it is through no fault of his own.

Since arriving in 2022, the American has managed 2,466 minutes in a Baggies shirt. By comparison, fellow striker Heggebo has clocked 3,290 minutes this season alone.
If there were any certainty that his injury troubles were behind him, offering an extension would be an easy call.
But history does tell the story that this may not be the case, with Dike’s woes persisting since his arrival.
As a result, Albion must make a difficult judgment as they shape their squad for next season, and they cannot be sentimental when making it.
