West Brom hint at Max O’Leary contract agreement with social media activity
West Bromwich Albion appear to be confident that goalkeeper Max O’Leary will sign a new deal in B71.
The Baggies released their retained list on Friday, confirming the fate of various first-team stars at The Hawthorns.
It wasn’t particularly surprising to see Jed Wallace, Daryl Dike and Joe Wildsmith all wave goodbye at the end of the contracts.
Karlan Grant’s situation remains up in the air, while fresh terms were offered to the keeper and Josh Maja, but have yet to be finalised.
So O’Leary hasn’t yet committed his future to West Brom, but they keep talking about him on social media like he’s one of their own.

West Brom share constant Max O’Leary related posts
It’s fair to say the 29-year-old has made a positive impression since his free transfer from Bristol City in January.
He really contributed to keeping the B71 outfit in the Championship with his performances in between the sticks.
| Stat (Championship 25/26) | Max O’Leary |
| Appearances | 21 |
| Minutes played | 1866 |
| Goals conceded | 18 |
| Clean sheets | 9 |
That made it all the more interesting as to whether he would sign a new deal when the season came to an end in the Black Country.
The Baggies are unable to confirm it at this stage, but still repeatedly posted about the keeper on Saturday as he featured for the Republic of Ireland against Grenada.
It started with a post wishing him and Jayson Molumby well, followed by multiple others, one simply reading: “Great shift, both.”
O’Leary could yet pen a new deal at West Brom, but this could be a hint that an agreement is close.
How did O’Leary perform for Republic of Ireland vs Grenada?
The Albion may have been active in wishing the shot stopper well, but they never mentioned how well he played.
He featured for 74 minutes at Estadio Enrique Roca de Murcia and was able to keep a clean sheet as part of a 5-0 win.
That didn’t prove to be very difficult as he wasn’t forced into a single save and was afforded just 12 touches of the ball.
He did act as sweeper once, made one clearance and chipped in with five recoveries, but there is nothing much else to say.
It is all a strange situation, but for the Baggies to cheer on a player who could soon walk out on them seems a tad bizarre.
