West Brom fans not happy with new away kit - but there's a reason behind it
West Bromwich Albion have released the first images of the new 2026-27 away kit.
Next season will mark the beginning of James Morrison's first full campaign in charge of West Brom.
It's hoped that lessons will be learned from 2025-26, with Albion dancing dangerously close with an unthinkable relegation to League One.
However, with four new signings already through the door, optimism is rife among Baggies fans that their team will start heading in the right direction once again.
One of the most effective methods for fans to get over a bad season is the release of next season's kits, as they also present a physical embodiment of the proverbial turning of the page.
Wednesday morning has seen West Brom do that with the release of next season's away strip, but has it gone down well?
West Brom fans aren't in agreement on new away kit
In truth, it's pretty rare to see fans of one club being universally aligned on how their team's new kit looks.
We all have different tastes, with some preferring funky and unique designs, whilst others have a palette for tradition and simpleness.
So, it's probably no surprise then to see West Brom supporters seemingly split on the new 2026-27 away kit, with the Club going for a primarily red colour alongside black and white features as well.
"I actually quite like it, I think this is our best kit so far under Macron," said one Albion fan.
"Smart and simplistic...I'm a fan," wrote another.
One fan isn't enjoying the shift away from the green and yellow away kits, though, saying: "We've had red many times but for me, our away kit should always be green and yellow."
"Stinker, we haven't had one nice Macron kit," said another less than impressed Baggies supporter.
West Brom's thinking behind new away shirt revealed
As pointed about by a supporter, West Brom have a long history of using yellow and green colours for their away kits.
Because of this, some fans are feeling as though the club have moved away from tradition and history with this new release, but that's not entirely the case.
In the accompanying report via the West Brom club website, the new away top is detailed as having a front and back outline of the Wordsley Red House Glass Cone.
West Brom write that the decision to adopt red, white and black for the colour scheme is a nod to Black Country heritage to the "fire and embers" of the local glass industry.
On top of this, the Baggies' traditional 'WBA' italic logo continues to take a its place on the back of the collar.
For fans who love the design, or simply feel obliged to purchase one out of loyalty or tradition, the new away shirt is on sale online and in-store now.
Adults will have to pay £59.99 and juniors £39.99, whilst adult shorts are £29.99 and juniors £24.99 respectively.
For those wanting a long sleeve version of the top, and adult top will set you back £64.99, and all infant and baby kits are priced at £39.99.
