Craig Dawson has admitted it was "lovely" to go and record a victory for Wolves against his old side West Brom in the FA Cup.

In an interview on the Wanderers' website on Wednesday (13 March), the 33-year-old said it was "great" to go to The Hawthorns in a gold shirt and win.

The English centre-back, who spent nine years with Albion, added that he "really enjoyed it" as the Premier League side picked up a 2-0 victory on 28 January, where crowd trouble largely spoiled the occasion in the Black Country derby.

“I’ve really enjoyed the FA Cup this year," said Dawson. "We had a tough game at Brentford and then the joy of winning the game against West Brom, which was lovely, really good. It was great to go to the Hawthorns in a gold shirt and win – I really enjoyed it."

It's pretty unnecessary for Dawson to rub it in how much he joined getting one over on West Brom when his Wolves side claimed the bragging rights earlier this year.

Although his exit for Watford in 2019 wasn't well received by the Albion fans, he spent almost a decade at The Hawthorns and was part of some great moments with the club.

It was the Baggies after all who gave him his big break in the game when they signed him from Rochdale all the way back in 2010.

The Englishman has gone on to make a decent career for himself, but perhaps a little more respect should be due to those people who supported him for so many years.

But there is clearly no love lost between the fans and the centre-back and he will no doubt receive a frosty reception the next time he comes up against his old club.
