Mike Dean launches accusation at Jayson Molumby after West Brom vs Blackburn controversy
Mike Dean slammed Adam Herczeg's decision to award West Bromwich Albion a penalty against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
The Hawthorns welcomed Tony Mowbray back on 17 October and started poorly.
Andri Gudjohnsen scored a brace in 12 minutes, as the visitors pounced on the Baggies' defensive errors.
James Morrison's team eventually found a way to get the three points at The Hawthorns, with Jayson Molumby heavily involved.
The midfielder redeemed himself with some impressive play throughout the second half and won the penalty that led to the equaliser.
While the Republic of Ireland international's actions helped Albion make their comeback, he may have been fortunate in the moment.
Should West Brom have had a penalty vs Blackburn Rovers?
Price scored an audacious Panenka against Blackburn in the high-pressure moment for West Brom.
However, Dean believes Herczeg should never have given the Northern Ireland international that opportunity.
Sean McLoughlin was penalised for bringing Molumby down, but the Baggies' midfielder may have exaggerated in that moment.
Looking at the footage, Dean accused the Irish ace of diving as the Blackburn defender made no contact with him.
Speaking on Soccer Saturday on 17 October, the former Premier League referee said, "He's put the challenge on the edge of the area. He's behind the player. He has made no contact with the player at all.
"Player has gone in the air. He has just thrown himself to the floor. It's just not a penalty. It's just 100 per cent a dive. There's just no contact whatsoever."
Why win vs Blackburn Rovers means more than meets the eye
West Brom had a decent start under Ryan Mason last season before everything fell apart.
Fans in B71 are wary of another false dawn under Morrison, with the Baggies recording the same points tally last season after 10 Championship games.
The performances under the former Scotland international have been much better, but some supporters still feel a sense of dread.
Had the Albion dropped points against the Rovers, it could have affected the atmosphere around The Hawthorns for the upcoming games.
Barney Stewart scored West Brom's first goal before the break and Felix Horn Myhre came off the bench to record the most consequential touch on the ball in the 89th minute as the game ended 3-2.
Not only has the comeback secured three more points for the West Midlands outfit, but it will also go a long way toward galvanising the fanbase behind the team.
