Mural of West Brom hero Kevin Campbell appears in London

West Bromwich Albion hero Kevin Campbell now has a mural in his honour in London.

The former striker made his way to Albion halfway through the 2004-05 campaign, and played a crucial role in helping the club achieve the "Great Escape".

Though he only spent 18 months in total at The Hawthorns, he quickly became a hero for the Baggies, playing 49 times and scoring six goals.

Campbell was known for his big personality in the dressing room and on the field, captaining the Black Country Club many a time.

He racked up over 500 appearances throughout his career, ending his time as a player with Cardiff City before becoming a football pundit and a columnist for West Brom News, before sadly passing away in 2024.

But Campbell wasn't only known as a West Brom hero, as his footballing ability can now be jointly celebrated by several UK clubs.

Campbell played for the likes of Arsenal, Cardiff, Everton, Nottingham Forest and West Brom in his career, making an impact at all the different club's he joined.

Arguably his most dramatic impact was helping Albion survive relegation from the Premier League in 2005.

The Brixton-born footballing legend can now be celebrated in his home town with a new mural that brings his career to life once more.

As shared by an X user on Sunday, a mural of the Albion hero can be seen in Brixton, which can be seen above a Morleys Department Store.

It features illustrations of him playing for several UK clubs, including West Brom, with the words "super Kevin Campbell" visible.

The mural has been created by Itaewon [Jake Attwell], with the support of Lambeth Council, the Kevin Campbell Foundation and Morleys Department Store.

West Brom will be hoping that James Morrison can discover hero's like Campbell one day; someone, or a group of players that can give Baggies fans memorable moments to last a lifetime.

It's been a good start to the season for Albion, but a long way is left ahead of them to earn promotion.

Speaking about the mural on behalf of the Kevin Campbell Foundation, Lorna Campbell expressed her gratitude at the design's creation

Campbell said, as quoted by Love Lambeth: "From the beginning, we wanted the mural to celebrate not only everything Kevin achieved in football, but also the values he lived by and the community he loved. 

"We hope it becomes a place where people can remember Kevin, celebrate his legacy and learn more about the work of the Kevin Campbell Foundation."
