USA media rates George Campbell after West Brom star's glaring mistake vs Peru
West Bromwich Albion defender George Campbell started for the USMNT against Peru on Saturday.
The Baggies' centre-back played 87 minutes as Mauricio Pochettino's team won 4-1 at the Inter.co Stadium in Orlando on 26 September.
While the hosts took the lead early on, the South Americans quickly equalised through Gianluca Lapadula after Campbell gave the ball away.
Apart from that one error, he replicated the solidity he has shown at The Hawthorns for the USA in their dominant win.
The 25-year-old played alongside Auston Trusty at centre-back in his first appearance for the USMNT since his debut in January 2025.
It wouldn't be surprising to see the Black Country outfit's defender become a household name in America soon.

James Morrison handed Campbell the captain's armband in the summer, indicating the faith the Baggies have in him.
The centre-back will surely represent the Albion on the international stage regularly and will hope to do better in the coming matches.
After the centre-back's performance against Peru, NBC Sports gave him a rating of 6/10, writing, "Loomed large in the back line but gave away the ball on Lapadula's goal."
Athlon Sports also gave Campbell a 6/10, and it looks like that one error weighed heavily on their assessment.
Chile, Mexico and Canada are up next for the USA during the extended international break and it will be interesting to see whether the Albion defender keeps his place in the team.
