West Brom can now chase historic league start with rare feat in sight vs Burnley
West Bromwich Albion are preparing for their opening home game of the season against Burnley.
The Baggies have started strong this season with a win on the first matchweek versus Norwich.
That 2-1 victory will have boosted morale inside the West Brom camp, but they will have it all to do against a tough Burnley outfit.
Recently relegated from the Premier League, the Clarets still have many top quality players in their ranks.
Namely, striker Zian Flemming, who struck twice against West Ham to earn a late draw last weekend
However, while Flemming will pose a threat, Morrison can potentially achieve a rare West Brom record.
What rarely-hit record can West Brom achieve vs Burnley?
Last season, West Brom left fans dreaming early on. Four games into the season, they had accumulated 10 points out of a possible 12.
However, that quickly fell away and instead of remaining near the top of the table, the B71 outfit instead fell towards the bottom.
Strong starts are important, as they can set the tone for the season and they rarely arrive in back-to-back seasons.
And that will be a feat the Baggies now have a chance to hit this season.
According to BBC Sport, West Brom are now on course for two wins in the opening two games of the season in back-to-back campaigns.
West Brom had completed the feat just once since 1998-99 onwards (2017-18).
Of course, even if a win does fall their way, the Hawthorns support will temper their expectations for this campaign.
Last season proved that false dawns can arrive, but it would certainly provide a huge positive boost in B71 and for Morrison.
And they will have to do it all without the suspended Aune Heggebo.
How West Brom's record vs relegated teams provides them more hope
There is another record that could point to an excellent day for Morrison's side on Sunday, 23 August.
The Baggies' record against the relegated teams from the Premier League is quite poor - one win from the last 14.
But they have made themselves tough to beat at home. In the last six home games of those fixtures, West Brom are unbeaten.
They have achieved one win and five draws in those games, and against a team like Burnley, who will be eyeing instant promotion, a draw would not be a terrible result.
