West Brom updated predicted XI vs Burnley after unprecedented Aune Heggebo update
James Morrison has been forced to change his plans for West Bromwich Albion's clash against Burnley due to Aune Heggebo's shock suspension.
Heggebo has been hit with an unprecedented two-game ban after being accused of deliberately deceiving the match officials in last week's 2-1 win at Norwich City.
The Norwegian striker opened the scoring at Carrow Road with the use of his arm, but it was missed at the time and the goal was allowed to stand.
In what Albion say is a first, it was announced on Thursday Heggebo will now not be available for the league clash with Burnley and the Carabao Cup tie against Newcastle United.
Heggebo was almost certain to start Sunday's visit of Burnley at The Hawthorns, but that will not now be the case.
It leaves Morrison with a decision to make up top for what will be one of the Baggies' toughest tests of the season on paper.
Who will replace Aune Heggebo for West Brom vs Burnley?
West Brom have every right to be furious over Heggebo's ban, which has opened up a whole can of worms going forward.
West Brom News predicted Morrison would make two changes from the win over Norwich, with Ousmane Diakite and Harry Whitwell dropping out.
Diakite is not 100 per cent fit, while Whitwell's inclusion for the opening game of the season surprised some.
That would open the door for Jayson Molumby and full debutant Rabby Nzingoula to come into the XI.
Well a third change is also now on the cards thanks to the Heggebo update that came out of the blue.
There is one obvious solution for Morrison, which is to bring Barney Stewart into the side.
There is the possibility of changing formation and adding in an additional central midfielder, but Morrison will not want to tinker too much.
The rare feat West Brom can achieve this weekend
West Brom kicked off their season in style with the 2-1 win over a much-fancied Norwich side.
The Baggies will now be looking to make it successive victories to kick off the Championship campaign - and three in a row in all competitions.
It may be easy to forget now given just how badly last season panned out, but Albion also won their first two games 12 months ago.
West Brom could therefore win on matchdays one and two for the second time in as many seasons.
To put that into some perspective, only once - in 2017-18 - had they managed to do that since 1998-99 prior to last season.
