West Brom to miss nine-year first as supercomputer predicts result vs Burnley
West Bromwich Albion will be full of confidence for their opening home Championship game of the season against Burnley.
The Baggies will be looking to continue on from their fine start after a 2-1 win on the opening weekend of the Championship season against Norwich City.
James Morrison has many players set for their Hawthorns debut and they will want to see a boisterous crowd with all three points.
Burnley will not be an easy opponent, as they eye an immediate return to the Premier League.
Unlike the B71 outfit, though, they did not start the season with all three points following a 2-2 draw against West Ham.
But the supercomputer has now made its prediction ahead of this fixture, which is set to take place on Sunday, 23 August at 12pm.
Which way does the supercomputer see West Brom vs Burnley going?
West Brom look to be set for a difficult test against Nicky Hayen's Burnley side.
Morrison will feel confident in his own squad, but the same cannot be said for outside forces.
The Baggies are not favourites heading into this contest, although the odds are quite close between the two.
According to the Opta supercomputer, Burnley are the most likely to take all three points with a 38.4 per cent chance of a victory.
But Morrison's side are not too far behind them with a 35.3 per cent chance of a win.
Despite the close percentages, a draw is the least likely option, coming in with a 26.3 per cent chance.
Burnley have been a tough opponent for West Brom in recent years, and Morrison will want to end a nine-year streak that is looming ahead of the fixture.
The nine-year streak West Brom can end vs Burnley
West Brom's last win against Burnley came in 2017, with both outfits in the Premier League at that time.
It came as a 1-0 win away at Turf Moor, with Hal Robson-Kanu scoring the only goal of the match.
However, since then, West Brom have faced the Clarets on seven more occasions.
In all of those, they have failed to secure another win.
Their record since 2017 has them losing two games, while drawing the other five.
But as the supercomputer predicts, they are expected to add a loss to that record, rather than ending a long winless run versus Burnley.
Football is played on the pitch, though, and the chances are close for either side to win.
