West Brom managerial candidate Graham Potter looks set to take over at West Ham United amid growing rumours that Julen Lopetegui faces the sack, according to Sean Whetstone.

Baggies supporters were keen on the idea of seeing Potter become the new boss at The Hawthorns but those hopes look to have been curtailed, with the ex-Chelsea manager now set to take over at West Ham, as per an update via the West Ham Football X account [6 January].

Potter's appointment at West Brom was deemed unrealistic and with the pending arrival at the London Stadium, the Baggies will have to look elsewhere for their Carlos Corberan successor.

West Brom need a resolution to the managerial uncertainty

The Baggies are still well within the race to achieve promotion this season but much of that will hinge on their ability to put an end to the current managerial uncertainty at The Hawthorns.

John Eustace has been tipped for the job [Chris Lepkowski], with claims that the current Blackburn boss would "welcome a move" to West Brom although the club are yet to make an official approach.

While the appointment needs to be done swiftly, it also needs to be the right one as the Baggies simply cannot afford to see all of the work done by Corberan undone by one poor decision which is a real possibility if they get it wrong.

Eustace would be a good option given the remarkable job he has done at Blackburn this season, but the club will certainly have plenty of targets in mind.

With the January transfer window in full swing, a decision needs to be made soon if they are to have hopes of adding reinforcements to the squad.
