West Bromwich Albion have made a solid start to the season despite their derby heartache.

The Baggies were beaten 1-0 by rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Black Country derby at Molineux before the international break.

But James Morrison's side have taken 14 points from eight games to sit fifth in the Championship standings.

Indeed, they are just three points adrift of leaders Swansea City, and will be itching for the domestic campaign to resume.

There has been a real team effort about things at The Hawthorns so far, with contributions from all the park.

Here, West Brom News launches its inaugural power rankings, with the top-five list compiled below.

5 - Isaac Price

Isaac Price has started the season in brilliant form for Albion.

With Mikey Johnston sidelined with an ankle injury, the 23-year-old has been a really important creative outlet for the Baggies.

He has two goals and an assist to his name already, and has been an excellent outlet for Morrison's side.

Price has been away with Northern Ireland during the international break, scoring in the 3-0 win over Ukraine on Friday.

4 - Jimmy-Jay Morgan

West Brom forked out around £4million to sign Jimmy-Jay Morgan from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

The 20-year-old is already looking like a bargain, scoring three and assisting three in the Championship, while he has five goals in total.

There is hope that Morgan can develop into a real top talent at The Hawthorns with time on his side to become a top forward.

Hopefully, he can continue to contribute the goals to forge a push for promotion at Albion this season.

3 - Max O'Leary

Max O'Leary did not immediately endear himself to the Albion faithful.

But in fairness, not many players flourished last season in a campaign that threatened to end in releag

This season, though, there are plenty who would argue that O'Leary has been West Brom's best player.

O'Leary has a couple of clean sheets to his name, and has prevented 4.18 goals in his eight Championship games.

2 - Harry Whitwell

After spending time on loan with Forest Green Rovers last season, there was an expectation Harry Whitwell would go again this term.

But, the 20-year-old has established himself as a first-team regular for the Baggies this season.

Whitwell has scored one and assisted one in six Championship outings, and is establishing himself as a really exciting prospect.

Hopefully, there is plenty more to come from the youngster, who Morrison will be keen to manage carefully.

1 - Callum Styles

Styles has been typically consistent for the Baggies in the early stages of the season.

Starring predominantly at left-back, Styles has also had to show how much of a team player he has been for West Brom.

Morrison had an issue at right-back to solve with Nolan Galves injured any Brayann Pereira suspended.

Styles consequently ended up playing at right-back, with Conor Townsend slotting over on the left.
