West Brom player ratings vs Wolves: Max O'Leary incredible but 1/10 teammate lets everyone down
West Bromwich Albion lost 1-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.
Despite Wolves having the lion's share of shots at goal, Fer Lopez's 50th-minute strike after a Nat Phillips mistake proved to be the only difference in the latest edition of the Black Country Derby.
It's the first time West Brom have lost at Molineux in over 15 years.
James Morrison's men missed the chance to go level on points with Swansea at the top of the Championship, instead dropping to fifth in their final game before the lengthy international break.
It was arguably Albion's worst performance of what has otherwise been a largely positive Championship campaign.
Here, West Brom News rates the players' performances out of 10.
Max O'Leary didn't deserve to be on losing team
It was the Max O'Leary Show in the first half at Molineux.
The 29-year-old Republic of Ireland goalkeeper made a string of incredible saves to keep Wolves at bay.
Unfortunately, a shocking error by Phillips in the 50th minute put paid to O'Leary's hopes of a deserved clean sheet.
However, that didn't detract from what was a man-of-the-match display by O'Leary, who pulled off an insane double save in the first half.
Not only that, stats by Sofascore show that the Irishman made five saves in total and prevented 2.66 goals, based on the xG of shots against him that he denied.
It was a performance worth of winning the derby, but unfortunately it wasn't to be.
Nat Phillips mistake inexcusable
Phillips' shocker, sadly, cannot be ignored.
Lopez snatched Wolves' 50th-minute winner courtesy of a horrific piece of defending from a player who's meant to be reliable and experienced.
Phillips showcased away at Derby just how good he can be at the back, helping 10-man Albion win 1-0 away at Pride Park.
Against Wolves, his improvements were undone by inexplicitly trying to pass the ball back to O'Leary without even looking at him.
Two Wolves players were charging into the box in anticipation that Phillips was going to pass the ball back to the goalkeeper.
If he just looked up or just booted it clear, it would have been fine.
