West Bromwich Albion take on Peterborough United in their final pre-season friendly on Saturday.

Albion have enjoyed a brilliant summer campaign so far, winning all three of their public-facing pre-season friendlies.

Sheffield Wednesday were beaten 3-0, before Bromley and Shrewsbury Town were both put the sword to the tune of 4-1 Baggies wins.

Saturday afternoon sees James Morrison's side enjoy one final run out against Peterborough, before their competitive action begins against Rotherham in the League Cup on 8 August.

The Weston Homes Stadium is this weekend's destination for Albion, who will be keen to ensure their unbeaten pre-season record doesn't slip at the final stage.

Peterborough: How has their pre-season gone and what can West Brom expect?

Formed in 1934, Peterborough United have been enduring a disappointing couple of years lately.

After being relegated from the Championship in 2021-22, Posh went close to winning promotion back to the second tier over the following two seasons, finishing sixth and fourth respectively but couldn't get over the line.

Since then, the Cambridgeshire-based outfit have recorded back-to-back 18th-placed finishes in League One, and have been under the management of ex-Swansea City boss Luke Williams since October last year.

Peterborough have played five pre-season friendlies this summer, drawing 0-0 with Saudi Arabian side Neom SC, as well as recording wins over Colchester, Peterborough Sports and York City.

They've tasted just one defeat across those five games, and that was at the hands of Boston United on 25 July.

Posh also begin their competitive action on 8 August against Bristol Rovers in the first round of the League Cup, so we can expect both sides to put out strong starting XI's on Saturday.

West Brom News reported on Mikey Johnston making his long-awaited return from injury against Notts County, in what was a behind-closed-doors friendly last Saturday.

This was Johnston's first time kicking a ball in anger since late February this year, and he was able to play 45 minutes against County, in which Albion lost 3-1.

So, whilst Morrison will of course want to be uber-careful with the winger, we can perhaps expect the Irishman to be involved in some capacity against Peterborough.

Meanwhile, Tammer Bany is back in training after picking up a hamstring injury on the final day of last season, and could also be ready for some minutes against Posh.

As a result, West Brom now appear to have a clean bill of health going into this final pre-season test, with it more being a case of building up match fitness and minutes for certain players.
