West Bromwich Albion are looking ahead to what is hopefully a more successful 2026-27 Championship season.

After the dismal periods under Ryan Mason and Eric Ramsay, the Baggies called upon former midfielder James Morrison to turn things around earlier this year.

He was able to do that, as he guided the Baggies to safety, though the fact that the club were even in that position is a cause for concern itself.

Given their relative size, West Brom are a club who should always be aiming for promotion when they find themselves in the second tier, and big improvements will be needed next term.

There is a feeling of positivity under the former midfielder though, with his common sense approach beginning to get the best out of the squad once again.

When will West Brom players return for pre-season training?

On Thursday at 12pm, the fixtures for the 2026-27 season will be released, allowing fans to begin planning their days out.

Albion's players will then return to training on the same day - lining up with the fixture release as Morrison heads into his first pre-season.

With the Championship officially getting underway on Friday 14 August, Morrison and his group will have plenty of time to get themselves ready for what they hope will be a more rewarding year.

What will West Brom fans be looking forward to in pre-season?

Fortunately for Baggies supporters, they have plenty of football to look ahead to in the coming weeks.

It was announced earlier this month that Morrison's side will be opening their preparation with a clash against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday 11 July.

This will not be open to fans, with the encounter taking place at St. George's Park - home of the England National Team.

A trip to the Algarve then beckons for the Baggies, with a friendly against League One Bromley to conclude the trip on Friday 17 July. That will be held at Estadio da Nora in Albufeira.

Fans will then be able to attend the trip to Croud Meadow when they take on Shrewsbury Town on Saturday 25 July at 3pm.

The Baggies have been given an allocation of 3,281 for the trip.

Tickets will be priced at £12 for adults, £8 senior (65+), £5 junior (14-18), £2 child (7-13) while under 7s can enter free of charge.

Tickets can be purchased on the West Brom website.

An away encounter with Peterborough United on Saturday 1 August follows that, also at 3pm.

This will take place the weekend before competitive action begins in the Carabao Cup, while ticketing details will be confirmed in due course.
