West Brom's survival chances shift in latest supercomputer prediction after Championship drama

West Bromwich Albion's chances of survival have shifted once again following the weekend's Championship fixtures.

The Baggies played out a 0-0 draw with promotion-chasers Millwall on Friday, with James Morrison's side extending their unbeaten run to seven matches.

Since falling to a 2-1 defeat against Oxford in his first match at the helm, the former midfielder has overseen a sensational turnaround at The Hawthorns - seeing Albion forge a gap to the drop zone.

Oxford, Portsmouth and Leicester had the chance to respond to Friday's goalless draw in the Black Country, and while the first two secured big wins, the Foxes fell to a 1-0 defeat against Swansea.

Leicester sit 23rd in the standings, five points behind the Baggies in 20th, though the gap between the relegation zone and West Brom now sits at just two points thanks to Oxford's 2-0 win against Watford.

With one of the spots already taken by Sheffield Wednesday, Albion are among five sides battling to avoid the remaining two spots in the drop zone.

Since Morrison's arrival, the simple fact of the matter is that West Brom have looked a competent and competitive side.

They are no longer losing out in tighter matches, with the defence now much more solid, while the quality in the final third has been profiled correctly in the 4-4-2 system now used.

During the six-match run, the Baggies have also picked up some huge results.

Taking points from matches against Southampton, Hull, Wrexham and Millwall, West Brom have proven capable of causing problems against multiple sides fighting for promotion.

This was specifically the case on Friday; not once did they look out of their depth, despite Millwall being labelled as firm favourites.

With four Championship outings remaining, the Baggies are well-placed to secure their spot in the division, and Morrison most certainly deserves his flowers.
