Eric Ramsay in frame to manage Euro 2028 co-hosts after West Brom failure

Eric Ramsay could be back in management very soon as he looks to put his West Brom disappointment behind him.

The 34-year-old was sacked by West Brom at the end of February after just nine games in charge.

Ramsay had been brought in as Ryan Mason's replacement amid plenty of fanfare, given his reputation of being a top up-and-coming coach.

However, the former Welshpool Town player lasted less than two months into his two-and-a-half-year deal at The Hawthorns.

Ramsay had previously managed Minnesota United in Major League Soccer, with the West Brom job his first in British football.

After four months out of the game, the Shrewsbury-born coach is now potentially in line for a plumb job.

Eric Ramsay being considered for Wales job

Ramsay was born in England but represented Wales in futsal prior to moving into coaching.

He also previously worked as assistant coach for the Wales men's senior football team - a position he doubled up with his coaching job at Manchester United.

Ramsay was highly regarded by the FAW, explaining an update shared by BBC Sport on Saturday.

It is reported that the FAW are keeping tabs on Ramsay as they draw up a list of replacements for current boss Craig Bellamy.

Bellamy is expected to step down from that position to take the job at West Brom's Championship rivals Burnley.

Steve Cooper and Rob Edwards are also being considered by Welsh football chiefs.

Ramsay reputation in a way saved by James Morrison

West Brom have James Morrison to thank for keeping them in the Championship last season.

The former Albion player took caretaker charge and more than steadied the ship, landing the job permanently as a result

The Baggies looked destined for the drop after Ramsay's dire spell in charge.

In many ways, his reputation has been slightly saved by the virtue of someone else keeping West Brom up.

Had Morrison not done so, Ramsay would have had a relegation on his CV.

As it is, he is still highly regarded and could well be in charge of one of the Euro 2028 co-hosts when that tournament comes around in two years.
