Adama Traore possible new target as West Brom still have millions to spend

West Bromwich Albion have impressed with their change in transfer strategy this summer.

James Morrison has been named as full-time head coach, and hasn't messed around in the market.

Younger strikers have been signed, with Jimmy-Jay Morgan and Barney Stewart hitting the ground running already.

They've replaced older, more expensive options in Josh Maja, Daryl Dike and Karlan Grant at The Hawthorns.

Nolan Galves has been signed at right-back, with Felix Horn Myhre scoring from midfield in his debut after arriving from Brann.

And after kicking off their season with a 4-1 win over Rotherham in the Carabao Cup, there's still plenty to spend.

Who else could West Brom sign?

Rabby Nzingoula became the latest arrival on Tuesday, signing from Strasbourg in France.

Paying around £2million, the Baggies and Morrison have once again plucked an up-and-rising midfielder who wants to make a name for himself.

But, there are more experienced options on the market; take Adama Traore for example, with another winger wanted.

The Spanish flyer is yet to find a new club after leaving West Ham at the end of last season, but a drop to the Championship feels unlikely.

The I Paper has suggested Adama, as well as Bertrand Traore, as two possible free agent options for the Albion.

However, his past at Wolves may make it hard to be accepted at The Hawthorns.

With the free agent market described as a "treasure trove" for clubs like West Brom, it'll be interesting to see if they take the plunge.

But, they may not need to.

How much more could West Brom spend?

It's more than you probably think.

So far, West Brom have spent around £10million on seven new arrivals.

And speaking to the I Paper in the same report, finance expert, Rob Wilson suggested there's more where that came from.

The professor suggested that £3-6m is a reasonable prediction for what could be spent by Bilkul Football between now and the September 1 deadline.

And despite the two-point deduction from the EFL last season, further punishment isn't expected, with the big 2023/24 losses not counted anymore.

So, with plenty already signed, it appears that West Brom and Morrison are far from done in this market.

Traore, though? That feels like a huge longshot for now.
