Daryl Dike has broken his silence after being released by West Bromwich Albion this summer.

The Baggies decided not to extend the 26-year-old's contract and he is now a free agent.

After four and a half long years with the Albion, the American striker has penned a long and emotional letter to supporters.

Dike has admitted West Brom will hold a special place in his heart, thanking fans for standing by him even through the rough times.

The centre-forward was never really able to get going at The Hawthorns due to consistent fitness issues and has expressed regret over it.

Dike came back into the team towards the end of last season to help the Black Country outfit survive relegation, and Danny Imray, who was also a pivotal part of James Morrison's success, has shown love to the striker.

West Brom contingent react to Daryl Dike exit

Imray became an instant fan-favourite at West Brom with his incredible performances at right-back after arriving on loan from Crystal Palace in the winter window.

The 22-year-old Englishman wrote "DK" with a heart emoji as the striker expressed his gratitude towards the Baggies.

Isaac Price, Ousmane Diakite and Alex Mowatt have also wished the USA international the best for his future.

Samuel Iling-Junior and Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba, who were on loan at the Albion from Aston Villa last season, also responded with heart emojis.

Former Baggies Darnell Furlong and Semi Ajayi also reacted to Dike's message.

What direction James Morrison's rebuild has taken at West Brom

West Brom News recently covered reports that Tommy Watson is of interest at The Hawthorns, with the Baggies considering a loan move for the 20-year-old Brighton and Hove Albion winger.

The Albion have already signed Barney Stewart, Jimmy-Jay Morgan and Carter Pinnington in recent weeks.

It's clear that the recruitment team are looking to add more youth to the West Midlands club's squad as Morrison takes the reins.

Most of the signings so far have brought energy and potential to the Baggies' ranks.

The player-trading model being shaped up at The Hawthorns appears to prioritise a high return on investment.

There's still a long way to go before the window closes, but all signs point towards Morrison wanting to build for the future.
