Early verdict on West Brom's summer business as signings and sales confirmed
West Brom have already confirmed five new signings this summer.
James Morrison has added two players to his forward line, with Barney Stewart and Jimmy Jay Morgan joining from Falkirk and Chelsea.
The goalkeeping department has also been revamped with Max O'Leary joining permanently, and Matt Ingram brought in as back-up.
Carter Pinnington was added from Liverpool, but he is set to go straight into the Under-21 side.
Daryl Dike, Jed Wallace, Joe Wildsmith will all leave at the end of their contracts this month, and Josh Griffiths was sold to Stoke City.
While we have yet to see what each player can do on the pitch, West Brom News rates every signing that The Hawthorns side have made so far.
Why Barney Stewart is top quality business
Stewart sticks out as the best piece of business that the Baggies have done so far.
He had an impressive record for the East Stirlingshire side, with 12 strikes and four assists in 38 matches across all competitions.
The Scottish Premiership is seen as a similar level to the Championship, so the expectation is that he will hit the ground running in the Black Country.
He may prove to be better than Dike, and crucially will likely be less injury prone.
Jimmy Jay Morgan has a lot to prove at West Brom
The deal to bring Morgan to B71 has the potential to be an expensive one.
The fee is believed to be around £4million, so he needs to hit the ground running to prove he was worth that much.
He notched 12 goals and three assists in League One for Peterborough United last season, but the second tier could prove to be too much of a step up for the 20-year-old.
He can play on the flanks as well as upfront, so could prove to be an effective replacement for Wallace.
Goalkeeping additions should raise the levels at The Hawthorns
The fact that Morrison was able to keep hold of O'Leary is a big deal, as he played a key part in the winning streak at the end of the season.
The Irishman offered security between the sticks, something which they had previously lacked.
Meanwhile, Ingram has made 75 Championship appearances across spells with Hull City, Queen's Park Rangers, Luton and Oxford United, so brings vast experience.
He is expected to challenge the 29-year-old for the number one spot, and should be a better option than Griffiths or Wildsmith.
Pinnington is the strangest signing so far
The addition of Pinnington could be viewed as a gamble, as he is set to play in the youth ranks, rather than coming into the senior side.
However, he has a lot of potential and was considered a top prospect with Liverpool.
It will surely only be a matter of time before he is involved with Morrison's side.
The deal may not serve Albion straight away, but it makes sense to add talent for the future as well.
