How West Brom chiefs feel about Rabby Nzingoula in 'behind-the-scenes' revelation

Rabby Nzingoula is already turning heads at West Bromwich Albion.

The 20-year-old arrived at The Hawthorns this summer as somewhat of a surprise purchase to many fans.

Signed mere hours after first being linked to West Brom, the midfielder penned a three-year deal in B71.

A highly-rated talent from French side Strasbourg, the Congolese international was the latest in Albion's strategy of targeting young players.

Joining a midfield group with the likes of Ousmane Diakite and Jayson Molumby meant patience was always going to be required with him.

However, it may not be long before Nzingoula really starts to shine on the Championship stage.

What sort of impression has Rabby Nzingoula made on West Brom?

This summer has been a highly ambitious one from West Brom on the transfer front.

Significant transfer funds have been spent, but if their plan works, they'll get it all back and more in time.

Without parachute payments, the Baggies are evidently trying to run a more self-sustainable model in terms of player recruitment and sales.

This focuses on buying younger players on relatively cheap deals, developing them and then selling them on for profit.

And if what has been said about Nzingoula turns out to be displayed on the pitch, West Brom will feel confident of doing this with him.

Writing via BBC Sport, BBC Radio WM's commentator Steve Hermon has revealed how Albion chiefs feel about Nzingoula so far.

"People are purring behind the scenes at what they've seen from French midfielder Rabby Nzingoula," he said.

But just how good have Nzingoula's numbers been through the first few weeks of the Championship season?

How Nzingoula's has already shown Championship star potential

Nzingoula has featured in all three of West Brom's Championship games so far in 2026-27, albeit all coming from the bench.

As per FotMob, he won both of his two aerial duels in his debut against Norwich, whilst also winning five ground duels and three tackles.

In the nine minutes he got against Burnley, he completed six of his seven passes accurately, made one clearance and an interception.

On his full competitive debut against Newcastle, Nzingoula created one chance, won two ground duels, three recoveries and two tackles.

And in his latest cameo against Middlesbrough, he won all three of his ground duels, created one chance, won a tackle and had an effort on goal.

So, whilst he may not yet be top of the pecking order at The Hawthorns, those ahead of him can't be sitting comfortably in their roles.
