Ex-West Bromwich Albion star Peter Odemwingie wants to see the media stop replaying his infamous 2013 deadline day saga.

Indeed, it remains one of the most talked about moments in Premier League deadline day history.

On the final day of the January 2013 window, Odemwingie arrived outside of Queens Park Rangers' Loftus Road stadium.

He reportedly hoped it would help push through a move from West Brom to the R's, but ultimately no deal materialised.

As deadline day rolls around every year since then, the footage of Odemwingie in his car that night is always played, but he wants that to stop.

Why Peter Odemwingie wants 2013 deadline day footage stopped

Taking to his Instagram account, Odemwingie has explained why he no longer wishes to see his 2013 deadline day saga shown any longer.

The ex-Nigerian international has even claimed that he will be taking legal advice on the matter.

"So earlier this year, QPR auctioned the shirt they prepared for my arrival in January 2013 and it was in their office for 12/13 years," he wrote.

"Sky Sports, agents and employees of both clubs, West Brom and QPR, definitely have questions to answer and I will be seeing a lawyer next week to make it official.

"From simply a human side of it, Sky Sports, what is the motive/intention to show this episode on and on for so many years ? The least will be lack or absence of respect in my opinion.

"Maybe they don’t like that I am half Nigerian and half Russian? I can only guess. Could be something else. Who really knows. God knows for sure and one day I will find out more.

"On that day with me there was a man from Ghana in my car who then was working for a big football agency called World in Motion and a man from Jamaica who had the official mandate to make the deal happen as we arrived Loftus road.

"So whenever you talk about this pls remember that and share the info."

What is Odemwingie doing now, and why does he feel like he needs this situation putting to bed?

What new career Odemwingie is about to launch for himself

After eventually leaving West Brom to sign for Cardiff City in 2013, Odemwingie bounced around different clubs for a few more years.

Eventually he retired from playing in April 2019, after spending two years with Indonesian outfit Madura United.

Since then, he's actually qualified as a professional golf player, but that's not the only career he's pursuing after retirement.

As he writes in his aforementioned Instagram post: "My coaching career in football will be starting soon so need to clear the air from this situation."
