West Bromwich Albion have started the summer transfer window with a point to prove at The Hawthorns.

After flirting with relegation last season, all eyes will once again be on promotion to the Premier League.

James Morrison is now in charge permanently after his interim success with the Baggies, and he is being rewarded.

West Brom announced the signing of Barney Stewart from Falkirk first, with the striker proving to be a record sale for the Scots.

Jimmy Jay Morgan is another attacker to arrive, signed from Chelsea in a deal that could hit £4million.

And West Brom aren't done there, with Carter Pinnington also signing from the Premier League, this time Liverpool.

Carter Pinnington goes under the radar

A young defender by trade, that often goes unnoticed when money is being thrown around in the final third.

Pinnington will initially join the under-21s at West Brom, but he clearly comes with a big future ahead of him.

Waving goodbye to Anfield with an emotional message on his personal Instagram account, the comments were flooded.

Robbie Fowler was one of those to respond.

"Good luck with whatever's next, Carts," Fowler wrote.

What is next for West Brom?

Interestingly, the Baggies have gone for younger options so far, so experience could be a target.

Stewart, Pinnington and Morgan all fall in that box, but things could change shortly in the summer window.

A new demanding figure in the heart of midfield could be next on the agenda, with Jayson Molumby, Alex Mowatt and Ousmane Diakite not consistent enough last season.

With Isaac Price moving to the left, someone who can dictate a game centrally and help the Albion dominate, would be handy.

Morrison isn't afraid to use youth, so it's good to see that he is being backed in the market with money to spend.

After PSR worries last season and a small points deduction though, some could start to wonder how far the budget will stretch.

That's for Shilen Patel and Bilkul to worry about, and after a troublesome few years at The Hawthorns, they surely wouldn't be taking any more doubts at this stage just for the sake of them.

As for Pinnington, his only goal will be to breakthrough in that senior squad as soon as possible.
