Sky Sports commentator Andy Hinchcliffe believes West Brom have done great work keeping hold of the "absolutely outstanding" Tom Fellows during the transfer window.

Fellows was the subject of interest from numerous clubs over the course of the summer, but the exciting forward remained at The Hawthorns and is now an England Under-21 international.

Keeping the exciting youngster alongside the late permanent acquisition of Mikey Johnston brought a positive end to a frustrating transfer window for the Baggies.

Hinchcliffe, speaking on the Essential EFL podcast [9 September, 15:37], said: "Tom Fellows has been absolutely outstanding.

"They've done well to keep hold of him, I thought there would be a lot of interest and there was."

West Brom aim to maximise potential of Tom Fellows

West Brom are flying in the early stages of the Championship season, yet to taste defeat and seeing their only dropped points come via a goalless stalemate with Leeds United.

Despite losing several key experienced heads, Carlos Corberan has navigated the start of the campaign perfectly - no wonder he is worshipped by those of an Albion persuasion and has attracted Premier League interest.

The same interest came Fellows' way - the West Midlands-born academy product has been superb since breaking into the first-team setup on a regular basis, making 38 appearances in all competitions last year.

The Baggies acted well to tie 21-year-old Fellows down to a new deal back in January when his senior capabilities became very apparent, with three years now left to run on his contract.

It puts Albion in the driving seat over his future for a little while longer, and they will be hoping he can play a massive part in the club's burgeoning promotion bid over the coming months.
