West Brom learn outcome of Danny Imray pursuit as £5m transfer close

West Bromwich Albion have maintained their pursuit of Danny Imray all summer.

The right-back completed a loan move to The Hawthorns in January and made an instant impression.

That can only be described as positive as he made a telling difference on the flank from Crystal Palace.

His ability to drive forward was balanced by defensive qualities that helped turn the tide in B71.

The 23-year-old played a key role in the Baggies avoiding relegation and was wanted back in the Black Country

West Brom have now learned where Imray will be playing his football next season as the transfer race looks set to end.

The defender has been up there with the main targets for James Morrison this summer.

Questions have surrounded him throughout the window as to how a deal can get done.

It is now clear that Albion haven't managed to get it done as the Englishman looks set for a move elsewhere.

Mike McGrath reported on Monday that Imray is set to join Wrexham for around £5million.

Crystal Palace are now expected to leave him out of their squad for a pre-season outing in the Como Cup.

That will serve as a body blow to the Baggies, but it is a positive that they already have an alternative in the pipeline.

It seems as if Wrexham's swoop for the full-back was already in mind for the B71 outfit.

That comes after the Baggies made a move for Rodez AF right-back Nolan Galves, as covered by West Brom News.

Sky Sports journalist Luca Bendoni reported on Saturday that Morrison's side were in advanced talks to sign the Frenchman.

That looks likely to see them beat Southampton to the 23-year-old as their newest right-back option.

It is still going to be a source of frustration to miss out on Imray, but at least there is a solution ready.
