West Brom are set to complete a deadline day move for NEC Nijmegen defender Brayann Pereira.

James Morrison's side have reduced their activity in the last few weeks after getting most of their business done early.

However, they were chasing a centre-back and it appears that the 23-year-old is the man for the job.

It will solve the final issue that had hampered the Baggies after they lost Krystian Bielik to Cardiff City.

The Hawthorns side have put themselves in a strong position for the promotion playoffs with their signings, especially if they get this one done.

What we know on Brayann Pereira to West Brom transfer

West Brom look like they are going to address their squad weakness in defence before the 11pm deadline on Tuesday.

Voetbal International journalist Sander Janssen claimed on Monday that the Baggies are set to sign Pereira, who is predominantly a right-back but has been used in the centre this season.

His report states that NEC will receive a fee of £1.2million for his services, with Albion pushing to complete the deadline-busting deal.

That offer is said to be "attractive" to NEC due to Pereira having less than a year to run on his contract.

It is understood that a medical will take place on Tuesday.

Who is potential new West Brom man Pereira?

Supporters in the Black Country have longed for a Pereira back in their midst since losing Mateus Pereira in 2021.

He was an attacker, though, while this one is a 23-year-old French defender, so a very different profile of player.

Pereira started his career with Lens in his homeland, making two  appearances for the Blood and Gold’s senior side.

He moved to AJ Auxerre in 2022, spending two years there, featuring two times for the first-team.

The new potential Baggies man spent time on loan with Bourg-Peronnas and NEC, before making the permanent move to the Netherlands in 2024.

He has played 85 games for the Goffertstadion outfit, with three goals and seven assists in that time.

Pereira has European experience, with four Champions League qualifiers for the Dutch side, so should bring a decent amount of experience to Morrison’s side.
