Aune Heggebo may be running out of time to prolong his West Bromwich Albion career.

Signed in a sizeable deal from Brann last summer, it was hoped the big striker would be the future of Albion goalscoring at The Hawthorns.

However, the 25-year-old has struggled with consistency during his time with the Baggies.

In 56 appearances he's netted 12 goals, and has started the 2026-27 campaign with a modest two in seven in the Championship.

That's despite the fact that James Morrison's side currently sit fifth in the table, and look set for a real promotion challenge this term.

Patience feels like it's starting to wear thin amongst supporters regarding Heggebo too, including Tom Garratt.

Who does Tom Garratt want West Brom to replace Aune Heggebo with?

West Brom made some sizeable investments on the transfer front this summer, showing that they've got funds to spend.

So, if the Albion are in a similar position in January to the one they're in now, the chequebook could come out again during the winter window.

But with the money spent in the summer, some exits may have to be facilitated before any considerable transfer fees are spent again.

Speaking via the Below The Prem podcast on TikTok, West Brom fan and social media personality, Garratt has a transfer plan for Heggebo.

"Albion, if you're listening to this, go and sign (Andri) Gudjohnsen in January. Go and sign him now," he said.

"Get rid of Heggebo. We'll do a swap deal. Take the loss on Heggebo and go and get Gudjohnsen."

So, who is Andri Gudjohnsen, is he a relation to Eidur, and how has he fared with Blackburn Rovers so far?

Gudjohnsen would bring some serious pedigree to West Brom

Born in London, but a 41-cap Icelandic international, Gudjohnsen is the son of ex-Bolton, Chelsea, Tottenham and Barcelona star Eidur.

During his early years in football, the now-Blackburn striker spent numerous years with both Barcelona and Real Madrid.

He really kickstarted his senior career with a 15-goal campaign in Danish football with Lyngby in 2023-24, earning him a move to Belgian side Gent.

Blackburn signed him from there in last year's summer window, and he would score seven times in 25 Championship games last season.

The 24-year-old has began 2026-27 on fire, netting four times and providing one assist through his first eight games in all competitions.

Blackburn surely won't have much interest in selling him, and so he would no doubt cost West Brom a pretty penny, especially mid-season.

But if they could find a way to move Heggebo on, or even add him as a sweetener to a deal, this would be a fantastic signing for the Baggies.
