West Brom Women have signed midfielder Seren Watkins from Cardiff City, subject to international clearance.

The Baggies confirmed the move on their official website [8 August], with the 20-year-old becoming Siobhan Hodgetts-Still's second signing of the summer after Marli Rhodes-Andrews signed from Derby County.

West Brom described the latest transfer business as an "exciting" deal and Hodgetts-Still is delighted with the move.

“We’re really happy to get this one done - Seren is a great addition to our squad," Hodgetts-Still said.

“She’s had a superb last year or so and we think she can develop even more with us this season.

“It’s good to get as much competition in the middle of the pitch as possible. We’re already strong there and Seren, with the quality she has, will make us even stronger.”

West Brom Women sign Seren Watkins

Watkins enjoyed a successful 2023/24 campaign, helping her side to an Adran Premier, Adran Trophy and Bute Energy Welsh Cup treble.

Her display last season earned her the Cardiff City FC Women Player of the Season and Adran Premier Player of the Season awards.

She has enjoyed success during her three years with the Bluebirds. Watkins scored the winning goal in the Adran Trophy Final in her first year at the club and won the Adran Premier title and Bute Energy Welsh Cup double before last season's domestic treble success.

West Brom fans at The Hawthorns

West Brom fans have every reason to be excited. Hodgetts-Still has added a midfielder with a winning mentality to her ranks ahead of the new season.

Watkins will have little time to find her feet at the club with West Brom kicking off their 2024/25 FA Women's National League North campaign against Liverpool Feds next week (18 August).

She was instrumental to Cardiff's success over the past three seasons and West Brom will hope she can find similar success at her new club and help lift the side towards the top end of the FA NLN table.
